Add an Audio Player
Adding An Audio Player
Step 1: Add The Audio Player Container
You will first need to add the "container" for the audio player. This is just an empty block of content that will eventually contain our audio player, but will not show up on the website if no files are linked to it.
Simply click the "Add Content" button for the section you want to add the audio player to, then click the "Audio" icon. If you do not see the audio icon, you can not add an audio player to the section you selected. Try the main section instead.
Note: There may be multiple "Add Content" buttons on the page.
Step 2: Link To The Audio File(s)
The audio player container you have just added will say something like "New Audio Player: This block will not be published unless...", as seen in the image above. Mouse over the new audio player container and the red dotted border will turn solid, then click.
A toolbar will appear to the left of the container block with a menu of icons. Click the "Audio Options" icon in the toolbar, which looks like a musical note (see image above).
Give your audio player a title, then add the file(s) that your audio player will play. There are two different types of files to add, an MP3 and OGG. Some web browsers will not play MP3 files, so we recommend you upload files in both MP3 and OGG format. Your audio software may have the option to create both types of files. If not, a quick Google search can find quite a few options to convert your files.
- How To Convert An Audio File To MP3
If your audio software does not offer an option to save as an MP3 file, you can convert your file using an online converter. There are many options to choose from, like this one.
- How To Convert An Audio File To OGG
If your audio software does not offer an option to save as an OGG file, you can convert your file using an online converter. There are many options to choose from, like this one.
To select the files, click on the "Change" link next to the format (MP3 or OGG) that you're wanting to add (see the image above).
This will bring up the file browser. If the file you're looking for isn't already listed, click "Upload" to choose a file on your computer and add it to your website. Once completed, the file will show in the list below. Double-click to select the file, or right-click the file and choose "Select" from the menu that pops up. Once all the files have been added, click the "Done" button, then click the "Done Editing" icon (check mark) to finish.
Step 3: Done
The audio player will now appear.
Note: If you have only uploaded one of the two file types, you will see a warning message informing you which web browsers will not be able to play the audio file. This message will not appear on the live website - it only exists in "edit mode".
