Connecting Email Software To Your Inbox

This article assumes that you have already added an email inbox with ParishPal. These instructions contain only the settings that you will need to input, not instructions on how to do it on any particular software program. To find out how to edit the settings for the software you use, please try a Google search for that software.  For example, you want to search for "How to add an inbox in Microsoft Outlook", then input the settings below when prompted in the tutorial.

What Type of Account?

Because our email service offers limited email storage space (1 GB), we recommend you avoid using IMAP email retrieval and instead opt for POP3.  IMAP will leave a copy of the email on the server forever, so you will run a risk of filling up your inbox to the point where you can no longer receive emails. POP3, however, downloads the email to your computer and remove the email server's copy after a set period of time.  We recommend you set your email to retrieve via POP3 and remove old emails from the server after around 14 days.
